Here’s a brief overview of this week’s recent activity from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team. PCSOs, alongside Police Cadets, carried out Operation Hawkeye in the Annfield Plain area. This initiative focuses on raising awareness about leaving valuables in vehicles. During the operation, 11 vehicles were found unlocked, and their owners were provided with crime prevention advice.Officers from both Neighbourhood Policing Teams have attended a range of community events to engage with local residents. PCSOs visited the Burnopfield lunch club, where they received a warm welcome from attendees. They also attended Annfield Plain Community Centre while the food bank was in operation, supporting this valuable community initiative.Sergeant Dixon and PC Combe attended a coffee morning in Quaking Houses in support of mental health awareness.PCSO Dawson and PC Hutchinson took part in a Rural Strategy meeting alongside partner agencies to discuss effective approaches to tackling rural crime and supporting rural communities.Neighbourhood officers also responded to two separate incidents, assisting in the safe location of a high-risk missing person, while South Moor NPT quickly located two missing children within a short timeframe. Officers also issued a traffic ticket to a driver found using a mobile phone while driving.On Saturday evening, officers worked alongside colleagues from Chester-le-Street Police and Durham Roads & Armed Policing to carry out an operation targeting off-road bikes. The force’s off-road bike team patrolled the Coast to Coast route between Chester-le-Street and Stanley, with drone support providing aerial oversight. The operation resulted in the seizure of three bikes, all believed to be linked to the Stanley area.
